![]() That's great.Īshlin worked with Edward Welby Pugin (son of Augustus) for that church. I've walked by St Kevin's before when touring Dublin, but at the time, I had no idea the TLM was celebrated there. Gate is narrow, better to park nearby on the road, heating uncertain, yet without them Ireland had little of the TLM barring a single daily diocesan Low Mass, Sunday High Mass from 1989, until after 2007, now about twenty something regular Masses. Like nearly all SSPX chapels, it's a former Church of Ireland (Anglican) church, this one a chapel of ease for the Parish of Monkstown, and really a sort of private chapel for the de Vesci's whose fine former house is beside it, and was once connected. Tea after Mass each Sunday (part used for children's catechism), and I meet someone with someone else with a 1930 St Anthony's Treasury, albeit in poorer condition without the cover. However, I've only ever have heard maybe five homilies of his. Twenty minutes is nothing for a great orator, but manages to say exacting things in a charitable way. The SSPX Prior sticks to twenty minutes, which is fine, but maybe not sufficiently focused. Parish is slowly working on a restoration which would re-instate the original stenciling and paint which is only apparent in the restored sanctuary. ![]() The church was designed by George Ashlin, a pupil of Pugin. '62 with Confiteor before Communion, so a sort of SSPX Rite. The diocesan PP (called Administrators in Dublin which means the job of a PP but without the canonical standing) sings the Mass with tremendous skill. Most recently it's the Seven Deadly Sins, paired each time with the Seven Cardinal Virtues, done in no more than five minutes per homily. The diocesan church had homilies on hell and Freemasonry (done by the oldest of their priests ordained in mid sixties) and one (by one of the assistant priests) too on praying for the Pope suggesting after running through a few choices, including the 'Our Father,' ending with one of the Psalms. They are very expressive of the faith in terms of physical action at liturgy and at home. I find the Byzantine much less effected by Vatican II. Then, very recently, a knock out sermon on the End of the World. Shows how Vatican II has spread its errors everywhere. Heard my very first total sermon after 68 years on just Hell at the Byzantine Catholic church. Once they get it built they can offer it up to the LGBT Bishop who shows up and takes it away from them. They are still trolling for 10 million to build a mega church in the age of Francis no less. Used to go to FSSP but had to stop due to their becoming a "continuous, non stop, virtue sermons" church. Quote from: King Wenceslas on March 12, 2019, 11:16:04 AM Now that the weather is hopefully going to be turning nice, we are trying to get back to driving the long distance to the SSPX chapel, but then pregnancy had been thrown into the mix, so we will see how that goes!Īnd the cherry on the cake was when Father said to go to Mass, even if it was not in the "form you prefer beause they are all the same".So much more to being Traditional Catholic than just the Mass.so much.īe so thankful for your traditionally trained priests, and any diocese priest who is a closet traddy. We will be monitoring the diocese website to make sure that we avoid any "new and improved" Sunday in the future. I would have been more content with it if we had been given a nice meaty sermon about purity, chastity and the words of the saints in how to peruse this and how to mortify the body in order to master the carnal impulses.but no such luck. But shlucking off the first Sunday of Lent for it? The beginning of the season of bodily mortification that is one of the BEST ways to fight this horrible vice. Yes, its a horrible problem, and yes, it needs to be spoken about. Father did do his best and only used the word once, and after that only use the word "images"but other than that, it read like a lifesite news article. ![]() About 3 minutes of this "homily" was given to telling us to pray the rosary and use holy water, the rest was detail after detail about the widespread problem. Yesterday instead of the First Sunday of Lent, we were treated to "Safe Haven Sunday" On this Sunday we were treated to an expose on the porn epidemic from the pulpit. Ah, the joys of the diocese TLM.The "improvement" made by our bishop to give us a Diocese priest and send our traditionally trained order of priests packing is really showing its fruit yet again. ![]()
